Neural therapy

Neural therapy is an injection technique used in pain management for treating acute and chronic diseases like migraine, osteoarthritis and backache. By using a local anaesthetic, mainly Procaine, the autonomic nervous system should be positively influenced. Neural therapy can be traced back to the German physicians Ferdinand and Walter Huneke, who developed this treatment in the 1920s. Their therapy is based on three principles:

  • Every chronic disease can develop as a result of an “interference field”.
  • Each part of the body can become such an interference field.
  • Each illness caused by an interference field can only be cured by eliminating its cause.

According to Huneke, the term “interference field or zone” refers to an area of tissue that has undergone pathological change and, via the nerve paths, causes irritation as well as disease symptoms to appear in other parts of the body. These are chronic inflammatory processes which weaken the human body energetically and generate disorders in other parts of the body. Most often these interference zones are to be found in tonsils, paranasal sinuses, teeth and jaws, thyroid and scars.
