Pediatric orthopaedics

Pediatric orthopaedics is the division of orthopaedics that cares for children’s and adolescents’ issues. These can be deformations that may be present at birth or may develop over time as well as orthopaedic conditions of the musculoskeletal system.

Hip:
  • Hip dysplasia
  • Hip luxation
  • Femoral head necroses (Morbus Perthes or Legg-Calve-Perthes disease)
  • Epiphysiolyisis capitis femoris
Extremities:
  • Clubfoot, flat feet, talipes varus (pigeon toes) ...
  • Knock knees and bow knees
  • Bone necroses
  • Leg shortening
  • Growth disturbance
Spine:
  • Skoliosis
  • Thoracis spine kyphosis with or without Scheuermann’s desease
  • Slipping of vertebra (spondylolisthesis)
  • Spina bifida
  • Muscular torticollis 
Pediadric orthopedic conditions or disorders:
  • Spasticity
  • Muscle dystrophy (Morbus Duchenne etc.)
  • Bacterial and rheumatic inflammations of soft tissue, joints and bones (osteomyelitis, arthritis)
  • Benign and malignant tumours in soft tissues and bones
  • Disorders of bone metabolism (e.g. rachitis)
